Project description:

Following the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, ABLE e.V. launched a low-threshold information platform on Instagram to provide Ukrainian refugees with guidance - with up-to-date content on entry, registration, dealing with authorities, language and everyday life in Germany. All content was provided in simple, accessible language in Ukrainian.

Goals:

  • Access to reliable, up-to-date information without language barriers
  • Reducing anxiety & disorientation in the first few weeks
  • Online community building through digital communication

Results:

  • Growth from 152 → 12,200 followers
  • 84,000+ interactions
  • Orientation on entry, registration, everyday life

Empowerment Talks

The Empowerment Talks are exclusive event formats for members of ABLE e.V. In a protected setting, women from the Ukrainian diaspora share their personal stories: of migration, professional reorientation, successes and setbacks. Real encounters and mutual encouragement are created through moderation, open discussion rounds and Q&As.

Goals:

  • Personal empowerment through shared experiences
  • Promoting emotional resilience and self-efficacy
  • Creating a safe space for honest exchange

Results:

  • 11+ offline and online talks organised
  • Participation of over 350+ women throughout Germany
  • Visualising female perspectives and success stories

Training formats

Running time: September 2022 - today
ABLE e.V.'s training formats are more than just traditional workshops - they are interactive learning spaces for women and young people from Ukraine who want to develop professionally and personally. The focus is on topics such as project planning, team leadership, self-organisation, soft skills and digital skills. The formats are designed at eye level, dialogue-based and practical.

Goals:

  • Personal empowerment through shared experiences
  • Promoting emotional resilience and self-efficacy
  • Creating a safe space for honest exchange

Results:

  • 12 workshops since 2022
  • Topics: Time management, application strategies, conflict resolution
  • 87 % of the participants rate them as „very helpful“

Cinema club 🎞️ 🪩 🐥

Running time: March 2025 - today

In our cinema club, film-loving Ukrainians meet in Germany to watch films together and talk about them afterwards - in German. Whether humorous or serious, feature film or documentary: The films provide food for thought, create opportunities for discussion and promote linguistic and cultural exchange.

Through the cinema club, we not only strengthen language practice, but also the sense of community - open, relaxed and always with room for new perspectives.

Goals:

  • Promote language practice through low-threshold dialogue opportunities
  • Strengthening cultural integration through joint reflection
  • Enabling a sense of community and emotional relief through creative media work

Results:

  • 10+ online discussions held
  • 3 offline open-air cinema visits
  • Regular participation in small groups (5-8 people)
  • Promoting language practice, a sense of belonging and critical thinking

Job coaching & mentoring

Start planned: End of 2025
A new programme for refugee women and young people with career goals in Germany. Personal coaching meets mentoring by experts. We provide step-by-step support for starting a career - with strategy, feedback and a network.

Shoot by Youth

Project description:

„Shoot by Youth“ was an innovative video competition that encouraged young people between the ages of 15 and 25 from six countries along the Danube to visualise local challenges through creative videos. Teams of 3 to 5 young people independently developed short videos on the problems of their local communities and presented possible solutions.

Results:

  • 57 young people from Germany, Croatia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria took part.
  • 14 finalist teams independently realised micro-projects.
  • Over 300 young people benefited directly from local campaigns.
  • Closing event in Vienna focussing on leadership and individual responsibility.
  • 100 % of the participants would recommend the project to others!

UA-Women Power Network

Project description:

The „UA-Women Power Network“ supported refugee women from Ukraine through a combination of an online information platform and local group meetings. The focus was on career guidance, job application coaching and empowerment workshops. Inspiring presentations and discussions with women who have already been integrated into the labour market helped the participants to develop new perspectives.

Results:

  • Free career guidance, job application coaching and job interview preparation
  • Sustainable integration into the German labour market through practical training
  • The women's network has around 360 participants across Germany.
